Our History
The history of El Minieh goes back to the seventeenth century BC As for its name, researchers have disagreed about it, and scholars suggest that the name El Minieh goes back to the name of the god Minia, who is the god of luck and fortune. The Assyrians, who made its lands a dumping ground for their Dirhams and money, named this area Manu, which is a piece of ancient Dirhams. Perhaps the name comes from the large number of springs.
